The Birmingham Black International film festival is proud to announce that this year's Music Video & Screen Awards will be held on the 30th October 2010 the luxurious Birmingham International Convention Centre. M ViSAs as it is sometimes refered to, is a lavish evening of music, entertainment, fine dining and of course the awards ceremony. The MVSA rewards the creative talents of individuals who have contributed to the Film, Music, Television and Video industry in the United Kingdom. |
As the Curtains closed on the 2009 MVSA Awards, we remember some very inspiring moments especially when Eastender's Patrick or should we say Rudolph Walker OBE received the Ebony Award for his contribution and lifetime achievements in the industry. This was the first time this award was given and has now become the festival all time greats award, sort of a hall of fame’s accolade. Rudolph was gracious as ever and the capacity audience were amazed at some of his accomplishments as a this is your life styled video reel showed on the big screens with clippings from his work with Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and greetings from many of his colleagues. The Evenings awards also included Tiana Benjamin for best actress, Alexia Rodney pick up the popular vote for Uk actor, Best film when to the Penny Woolcock, for the controversial film One Day, Doneao won best video music and Dr Robert Beckford won best TV presenter for his religious documentaries. There were also some amazing performances, especially from Mr G spot himself Wayne Marshall, who put down a brilliant rendition of a change has come, and yes of course he sang G Spot but the night belong to a local young lady who was given the opportunity to perform on the night in accordance with the festival's remit to promote new talent. going by the name Claire Angel, she stunned the audience with her vocal serenity commanding a standing ovation and an encore.... see our magazine Take2 for more ...
